  • A3000/16 rev6.3 motherboard
  • Rev6.1 daughter card.
  • 2MB of chip mem.
  • 4MB (?) of 80ns zip RAM
  • ROM tower, didn't pull it to check kickstart version.
  • Small signs of battery damage, varta battery removed.
  • Chip revisions clearly showed in photos.

Somebody hacked at this (not me). Probably an aborted attempt at upgrading to 25MHz? No idea if recoverable. It's beyond my ability.

Long story short... I've replaced the CPU, fixed the ROM tower, and one of the CIAs was bad.
Pictures below.

Replaced CPU, it will be ready for 25MHz upgrade.

4 pins on the left were easy to straighten out, but the one on the right needed to be cut, and I soldered a pin from an old 060 CPU socket.

After swapping around the CIAs, the machine booted into diagrom, but the bottom 512k of chipram was failing. Once, I replaced the bad CIA chip, everything worked ok

I just changed the crystal from 32MHz to 50MHz and couple of jumpers on the motherboard. I guess the next step will be to remove 68881 and install a socket for 68882.
