Would you consider building a 4x2 (or even 5x2) db9 (mouse + joystick) switch?
I'll figure something out for the keyboards myself then :)

OK, thanks a lot already for checking. No rush. Fingers crossed you have the components needed. Let's keep it a 4x2 switch. So to switch between 4 Amigas and share a db9 mouse and db9 joystick.

I've been thinking about ways to make your live easier. I came up with a couple of solutions, but this one seems fairly OK.

I convert all keyboards to PS2:
- A4000 with lyra I have
- Amy ITX has native PS2 option
- For X68000 I have a ps2 adapter
- A3000 I buy a PS2 adapter from you
- Except for V4SA, I connect a logitech unifying dongle to the keyboard USB, that works, I've checked.

I also convert mise to PS2:
- I buy 3 DB9 to PS2 converters from you for: A3000, A4000, V4SA (mouse USB of V4SA doesn't work with Logitech unifying :( )
- Amy-ITX comes with native PS2 mouse option
- X68000 never really use a mouse with it

I connect all PS2 mice and keyboards to ATEN CS84U KVM switch and hope it will convert all PS2 signals properly so I can connect 1 (or 2, separate one for mouse and kb) logitech unifying dongles.

I use a logitech keyboard & mouse (e.g. MK850) that works with 3 wireless profiles (i.e. KB & Mouse can connect to up to 3 unifying dongles each (not at the same time)), which connect to:
1: My PC
2: the Aten KVM switch
3. the V4SA keyboard
i.e. when using the V4SA, the mouse is connected to the KVM switch dongle, the keyboard to the V4SA dongle.

I connect all Joystick 1 ports via DB9 femaile - DB9 female cables (can you make these?) to a RS232 4 port switch.
I connect the joystick via a DB9 male - DB9 male adapter/short cable (can you make that) to the RS232 switch
I'll manually swap DB9 cable between V4SA & X68000, since I lack one port on the RS232 switch.

This would then look something like this schematically.

Be careful with the KVM, some not all work with non-standard PC setups.
If you only need joystick to switch, you can use standard rs232 switch with 1:1 db9f-db9m cabling (ie. no need for custom cabling).

Yes, I am curious whether or not the KVM will work. I ordered one, but can return it within 14 days. So let's see.
The only RS232 switches I find will require female-female cables, e.g. https://www.delock.com/produkte/G_87589/merkmale.html
Do I run the risk that one or more pins (that should not be ground for Amiga joysticks) are connected to ground/case of the switch and shorting stuff? I guess I can check for continuity before connecting anything :)

These can be used, but custom cables have to be built for every setup. I used these to switch mouse and joystick and keyboards with these.

Hi,
I would like a data switch for my 4 Amiga.
I have an Amiga 4000, 2000, 1000 and cd32 with sx1.
The 4000 has a scandoubler but the other 3, I connect them on a monitor 1084s so a switch would be very convenient. It would be great if the 4000,2000 and cd32 can use the same 4000 keyboard too (I already have the adapter keyboard for the 2000 to plug it). Finally all 4 to use the same mouse joystick
Let me know if you can do it.
