My 128D drive led just flashes and I was wondering if this cartridge of yours may detect a reason why

Hi there

if the C128D works (so you don't have the black screen) but the problem is the flash of the integrated floppy drive ... well I don't think you can need this cartridge.

So if we talk about the drive light that is always flashing or other way ... then we need to look for the problem in the failure of the kernal / MPU / etc
I am sending you a PM like this to show you a possible test cartridge (1541 Diag Test) which is certainly more suitable than this ;-)

Yes the C128D seems to be working with the exception of the internal disk drive

Hi! I have a c128 which is defective, sometimes it starts showing garbage onscreen, sometimes it just shows blue screen without anything, and sometimes it just doesn't boot up (black screen), alwasy no sound either...

How is this cartidge used in this case? how do you show which component is defective?, with this plugged in I just start up computer and i'll see on screen the tests and wrong components? sorry if this is a dumb question, but I pretty new to the Commodore scene


Also, test cartidge for c128 is the same for C64? or they need to be different? i have a working C64 too, but it would be nice to know if same test cartidge will work in both computers

sorry but I missed your request

You can use the cartridge on both (C64 / C128) .. but in C128 mode I don't remember exactly how much it allows you to find the fault. You will have to look in my old manuals because I remember that something was written about it ... or maybe someone here can already help us
