I'll stick with RedHat Fedora. I cannot stand Ubuntu or Debian. Absolutely loathe the both of 'em.

:coffee:

 I can't stand RedHat / Fedora. I prefer Ubunutu or Debian (I wonder if this boils down to personal perferences)

I've only run debian and later ubuntu for twelve years, so I might not be as experienced. and it has become my second os of choice now (primary is os x) but still. I can't stand any other distro because they doesn't feel familiar.

I suspect that's the most of it. Apt really hacks me off every time I try and use it. Yum is a bit clunky, but I can make it work. In general, I know where to find everything with a Redhat-based system so if I need to fix it, I don't have to spend ages figuring it out. I've spent the last 10+ years with Redhat and I'm happy with it. I am not going to invest another ten years in another distro just because it's the current darling of the Linux world.

If I were getting into Linux today, I'd probably be using Ubuntu, but I'm not. I've been here for 12 years now. :)

I used to use Gentoo at one point, but got so annoyed with the install time (Gentoo usually compiles during install for your machine rather than installing binaries)

I use Ubuntu and MacOS X mostly. I use Tiny7 and TinyXP for gaming/ software compatibility, as both are small enough for CDs and do very well with most anything I throw at them.

MacOS although they seem to always be rushing to distribute a new release every 2 years, I find is the most user friendly OS on the market. Aqua interface trumps Aero in every form and it is clear that Leopard and Snow Leopard are far better OSes than 7 or XP. Also, Mac OS has better built in tools versus Windows.

Although I am a bit of a debian fan I use whatever is best for the situation...
Linux Mint, especiallu the versions built againt ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10 are awsome especially as live systems.
At one point had the mint dvd served over PXE which worked but I prefer using SD cards atm...

Newer versions of XFCE are getting more feature rich and v usable
