I believe there are not differences between a domestic or international shipping. You will get your money either way first, you will visit your post office to get accurate shipping costs second, and you will go again to your post office to send the package either within your country or abroad.
Depends whether the item's small enough to fit through a letterbox. If it is, and it's a domestic parcel, then I can print a postage label online and drop it in the postbox down the road. If it's too large to do that, but small enough to airmail, then I have to visit the post office, so there's no major difference between domestic and airmail. If it's too large for airmail, booking an international courier is rather more hassle than a domestic one.
