Dummies guide to cap change

I have few amiga's that will soon be due an capacitor change

After reading this great thread about the A1200 cap change-

im aware i will have to tackle this job soon.I have few basic questions-

1-The cap list.I assume they are all smd caps.And i just copy and paste whats required into the order list so i wont have to worry about anything else?.Ie if i copied and paste 10uF x 35V into cpc farnell list *they sell panasonic capicators*,i will get this list http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/search/br...atchallpartial which i assume is ok?

2-Is it possible to remove all caps then replace them later or is it a job of doing one at a time so you can remember where they gr is replacing one at time risky due to heat disburse?.

3-Neg/positive markings-isn't it correct that the marking on the top of the smd cap is the negative side?.

4-Whats the ideal iron wattage?25,40,100w?.I tried 15w and found it rubbish.

Question 1 is the easy one - there was a user on here selling a complete list of caps for the different Miggys. Have a look for the thread. Edit: thread found https://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=4400

Question 2 - a circuit diagram or good high quality pictures will help you put them back in the right place.

Question 3 - see attached details.

Question 4 - not sure about heat wise. Zetr0 will help you here....

If I can spell it - I always use Isoprolalchahol - were's your dictionary when you need it

Dont want to hijack the thread, but this might be of interest to anyone in Oz.

Nathan at AmigaManiac does cap replacements to any Amiga for $30.00 + cost of caps (he onyl charges COST price of caps, which is just a few dollars).

He has done my a2k, a3k a4k, Cyberstorm Mk III (small boards/expansions boards he charges less), daughterboards etc. He is fast, friendly and professional. I highly recommend him.

He even does PSU upgrades (A4k etc psus upgraded to 550 watt with extra molex connectors, sata connectors etc).

An ordinary iron of 40~60W can make the job very comfortably. Just don't use too much solder and remember to use flux, prefer ecological flux if you are rich enough.

With common flux you have to wash the area with IPA (=isopropanol=isopropylic alcohol) and tuck the board into the dishwasher after that.
