Dynapoint Gamestar but when i dont connect a keyboard the gamepad is not recognize

Hi! I bought a Dynapoint Gamestar some month ago for use with my laptops in dos, so i can use the gamepad or nes gamepad connecting it to the external keyboard of the laptop. It works, but when i dont connect a keyboard in the adapter, the gamepad is not recognize, i dont want to bring a keyboard with me each time. I think the Volo adapter dont have this problem right ? if you have a idea to let the gamestar working without connecting a external keyboard, it would be very appreciated, thanks a lot.
Any idea to not bring a entire keyboard with me.

( note: the item is in the hardware sell section for a trade with a pcmcia gameport card, because i dont want to bring a keyboard with me and i prefer a pcmcia gameport card )
