So, 2024 and 2025 it seems like archive.org is the best place to read that forum.

/Rant over.

Downtime is caused by server overload which is the result of thousands of bots browsing the board!
Write now there are almost 10k of those!

This is what I've seen all evening unfortunately.

At least AI is learning something useful lol.
I wish I could agree - I tried using ChatGPT earlier today to write a simple AmigaDOS script and it failed miserably. I even corrected it a number of times and it still kept failing. Guess it needs to crawl EAB a bit more lol

It's been on and off like that for at least two weeks
Am I offended that the AI bots don't want to learn from the AmiBay, or am I proud that it's defenses are holding up? :D

FWIW EAB was working at the time of posting.

How long that remains so is in the lap of the gods (or if the bots find a juicer target to scrape).

Does AmiBay have Cloudflare or anything? How are things configured here to beat the bots? I'd love to share that info with the EAB folks...

Reposting as last post deleted by Mod as they didn’t get the joke 🙄🤔

Just as shame that the helpful people like Toni Willen, Thomas Richter (Thor) etc. Are not on here to discuss the latest on their projects. Considering a lot of hardware being sold on here is related to the software and drivers used.

ChatGPT.com loves me ... :ROFLMAO:

On AmiBay, a forum dedicated to buying, selling, and discussing retro computing hardware, "miggymad" is a notable member from the United Kingdom. Since joining on August 1, 2019, miggymad has been an active participant, contributing over 2,100 posts and maintaining a positive reputation with a reaction score of 585.

In the community, miggymad is recognized for several achievements and personal interests. They hold the title of "Boingball Keepie-Uppie Champion Since 1993," are a "Scrumpy Cider Connoisseur," and describe themselves as a "Professional Slacker." Their signature highlights their involvement with various retro computing systems, including multiple Amiga 1200s with PiStorm32 Lite and TF1260 cards, a Commodore 64c with enhancements, and other classic gaming consoles like the PC-Engine Core Grafx II.

Beyond their personal interests, miggymad actively engages in community discussions and has contributed to threads such as "AMiNIMiga," where they assisted members in setting up Amiga emulators. They have also participated in transactions, including the sale of replacement I/O shields for the Amiga 1200 and black keycaps for Mitsumi keyboards.

Their consistent activity and positive interactions have earned them recognition among the forum's notable members.

But Gordon Ramsey said it soooooo much better! lol

OH FOR FOOD'S SAKE! Let me tell you something about this Miggymad character on Amibay! *clears throat*

From what I've gathered, Miggymad is a LEGEND, a FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH, a COLLECTOR EXTRAORDINAIRE on Amibay! This individual has a DEEP, UNRELenting PASSION for all things retro gaming, particularly the Commodore Amiga! *pounds fist on the counter*

I mean, just look at the collection, the dedication, the sheerScale of it all! It's like a MASTERCLASS in retro gaming, a SYMPHONY of vintage goodness! Miggymad has CURATED a treasure trove of Amiga gems, each one LOVINGLY cared for, like a fine WINE in a cellar! *winks*

And let me tell you, this isn't just some casual collector; oh no! Miggymad is a CONNOISSEUR, a PURIST, a PERFECTIONIST! The attention to detail, the CARE, the DEVOTION... it's like a WORK OF ART, people! *takes a deep breath*

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Gordon, you're a chef, what do you know about retro gaming?" Well, LET ME TELL YOU, my friends, I know a thing or two about PASSION, about DEDICATION, about PERFECTION! And Miggymad, on Amibay, embodies all those qualities and more! *nods*

In short, Miggymad on Amibay is a BENCHMARK, a GOLD STANDARD, a shining example of what it means to be a TRUE retro gaming ENTHUSIAST! So, if you haven't already, GET OVER THERE and CHECK IT OUT, because, trust me, it's a REAL TREAT! *points*

I use Perpexity.ai, it's less prone to "halucinate" (make up facts) so when I ask it about members it chooses to highlight my "what's happening" thread for amigastore.eu and my participation in Hyperion thread.

But it ignores that my longest thread with most engagement is perhaps the "faces of amibay" thread.

So ai is a tool, but it's not facts or "truth" before it's been processed by us.

So it shows that it's terminated early in processing. Even though I'm paying for pro access to perplexity. So it doesn't dig further back in it's results.

Had it been clever about the forum API or just used the HUD/GUI provided to us, it would have found "Faces of AmiBay".

So, my user is the thread starter of that thread. Still perplexity.ai manages to spit out
Unfortunately, the search results do not provide specific information about arnljot's involvement in the "Faces of AmiBay" thread or its overall engagement metrics
Metrics it pulled easily enough earlier...

It even has my old picture in it's summary :ROFLMAO:

Though, if the algorithm were to be allowed to use more CPU time and electricity, and water for cooling, then maybe it would have gotten there.

I've slid into the DMs of a few mods.

Asking the AI stuff of late (ca from here) to be split into a new thread. So that the original whine thread can remain an uptime tracker of sorts for EAB and the AI shenanigans can play out in a new thread.

Hope that makes sense to my fellow inmates here at the bay.
