Thanks keropi, just ordered a nice M-SBF96 :thumbsup:

you won't regret it, I still have the SBF96 that I bought ~11 years ago and it works perfectly ;)
as a general rule I would say the older the better, like you need older CF, older ram, older pcmcia lancards, older everything on amiga :lol::lol::lol:

AmigaOS has supported 3 button mice since, like, forever. And all my Amiga games make use of all 3 buttons. I have been using PS/2 lasermice on all my Amigas since around 2003 and all my PS/2 adapters work with all 3 buttons perfectly. My very first PS/2 adapter was from around 1998 and it worked with all 3 buttons too.

Does your adapter work with all 3 buttons?
Yes?
No?
Maybe?
Donno?
On alternate Tuesdays?
:lol:

Thanxx0rz dewd :)

Arrived yesterday, tested this morning and it works great :thumbsup:

Thanks mate , feedback left :)

@ChaosLord

the wiring/code is there for middle mouse button BUT since I cannot guarantee MMB will work in every A1200 I did not put this in the adapter's features. Some 1200s due to their construction need extra power for RMB and MMB (I know this for fact since my 1200 is affected). RMB is fixed and guaranteed to work but MMB is not.
People with A500/A600/A2000/A3000/A4000 and the majority for A1200s will have no problems with MMB so just try it and consider it a bonus of some sorts :D

@Cryton
glad to hear it my friend, enjoy!

edit: just tested on an A4000D with Elbox's cocolino test program + microsoft usb/ps2 intellimouse - MMB gets recognized and works

edit2: well, MMB works fine even on my A1200... just install freewheel ( http://aminet.net/package/util/mouse/FreeWheel ) and assign an action... never bother testing it TBH as I was making the adapter to be a classic mouse replacement without extra buttons/wheels

Yay!

I have never installed FreeWheel in my life and my MMB has always worked with all my PS/2 adapters on all my Amigas. It really should work without Freewheel. FreeWheel is supposed to be for assigning an actiion rolling the wheel (such as cursor down or SHIFT+cursordown or whatever).

AmikitOS has FreeWheel installed and they have assigned an action to the wheel such that you can scroll thru long lists on Workbench or in MUI programs. It is awesome!

I currently only make use of the MMB.
I really should adjust my gamecode to make use of the wheel. Does anyone know what keycode gets emitted in AmikitOS when the user rolls the wheel?

It would be nice to update my Amiga games for the modern era :)

^ and what the MMB does without freewheel installed? On my 3.9 installation it does nothing _unless_ a program has built-in support for it.
With freewheel there are options to assign actions for MMB , you just select one from the drop-down menu and it works in OS

hehehe that is kind of like asking "What does the LMB do?"
It does anything a program wants it to do. :)

In some programs it does nothing, in others it selects things in others it steps on the accellerator on others it puts on the breaks in others it fires a machine gun but in other games it launches grenades.

Yes all AmigaOS programs must supply built-in support for LMB, RMB, MMB to actually do something when you press them or else they do nothing.

AmigaOS supports all 3 mousebuttons and also has a bunch of crazy gfx tablet support and other things I have never used. I was really suprised back in the 1990s to be reading thru a bunch of boring AmigaOS files when I saw references to MMB. I was like "waoh! My AmigaOS was written in the future and then transported back in time!"

I use MMB in Total Chaos AGA to popup an info panel of whatever monster or magic spell you are pointing at. No OS upgrades required. Just plain old AmigaOS does the trick.:cool:

oic you can make up your own action for MMB! Sounds kewl! But I wonder if that action only applies to workbench or to all programs in general? It kinda sounds like it might interfere with programs that depend on MMB to work the normal way.

Way overdue, but I got my Logitech SBF96 mouse finally and just wanted to say that the adapter works great. Leaving feedback now :)

Hey Keropi, by any chance is there any adapter left? I would love to get one!

nope, none left... I might do another batch at some point but nothing is sure...
I'm gonna archive the thread btw, since all feedback is already exchanged :lol:
