Hi Guys (and Girls)
I recently got the bug to get my Amiga 1200 going again and WOW the internet has certainly made that easy
when I was a young fella, some 25 years ago, I saved up my paper run money and got a Commodore 64c as I couldn't afford a Amiga 500 back then and got involved in the c64 demo scene of the late 80s and early 90s.
getting phone calls at 5am from guys with very poor English was REALLY cool back then, now.... not so much
once I got a proper job, the a1200 came out and I got the a1200hd40... yes, 40meg..... the usb flash drive I have plugged into my dvd player is bigger than that!!
shortly after Commodore went belly up, and over here in New Zealand, that was it, game over... no nothing about the Amiga or anything Commodore, I heard rumours that a company Escom bought the Amiga, but have never seen one.
I still have my c64c and all the stuff I bought for it over the years, and the a1200.
all these years using pcs has spoilt me in regards to speed, storage, stupidly big screens and when I went to my Amiga and squinted at that 1084s.... hummm... time to spend some money on this bad boy
FWIW, both the c64c and Amiga hadden't been used in over a decade, but they both fired up first time!
I soon discovered the insane prices of stuff on ebay and after finding the facebook group, I found the online retailers and this wonderful place.
I have since bought AOS3.9, 3.1 roms, a cf adaptor and a 4gig cf card and wow what a difference!
Looking forward to talking to you all
Ed
