EP8700 5Tap TTL Compatible High Speed Active Delay Lines DIP8?

Since the EP8700 chips are so expensive, retailing at $42-£30 currently on eBay I was searching for a cheaper alternative. Dallas DS1000 - 50 at $4.79-£3.38, would this work by removing the pins marked as NC = Not Connected pins 2, 3, 5, 9, 11 and 13?

Looking at the datasheets it would work but you would need the DS1000-25 to replace the EP8700 NOT the -50. The EP8700 has a total delay of 25 ( 5 for each point ) as does the DS1000-25. The DS1000-50 has a total delay of 50 (10 for each point).

Please let me know how you get on as this could help others!

I can confirm a DS1000-25 is compatible. I have just put one in my A3640 Rev 3.2 mod + NoWaitState mod board and the system appears to be operating correctly.
