Hi,

I have for sale an external Amiga HD drive which works in any Amiga through the external drive port with kickstart 2.x and above, as DF1:

It is tested for reading, writing and formating in DD (880Kb) and HD (1.76Mb) mode in A1200 ks3.1
Also tested its pass through connector with a Cumana DD drive as DF2:

The enclosure shows signs of use and is not in a perfect condition (see pictures)
The on/off switch has been disabled, so you have to connect the drive while the Amiga is off. is working as it should.

I am asking 140€ 130€ plus shipping costs through PayPal as F&F

Any questions are welcome.

Thank you

Hi.
Just asking, is it safe to turn a floppy drive switch on or off while the computer is on (providing the switch is not disabled of course)? I have never dared to do it for 30 years)?

I believe that at boot, the Amiga takes a short inventory of devices (and checks any hard disk for error -- the larger the HDD the longer it takes), so if a drive is unavailable after boot, it will throw a connection ("not present") error, and vice versa, if a drive is made available after boot, it won't be recognized -- this is just based on my observations.

Yeah but what about frying cia by turning the floppy on while computer is on?

It seems like connecting and disconnecting a signal that carries no power would do little to the CIA (other than confuse it). I have disconnected the floppy drive while the computer was booted by first withdrawing the power and then the data cables, and reversed the process to attach another drive (having also built a Checkmate A500 that switched between a real drive and a Gotek).

Of course, this discourse distracts from the selling of a 'bitch to build and test' HD external floppy - apologies to the OP.

Of course it is not safe. Maybe sometimes you get away with it but maybe will happen what happened 30 years ago..?

Declaring interest.
Please PM shipping cost to the USA
