Thanks for the pictures, Jon. As I said in an earlier post, the blue paint of the case badge took a hit during the treatment and I re-touched the colours up as best I could. Some Isopropyl Alcohol might remove the remnants of the mess.

@ hikey

The results do look somewhat patchy as I previously mentioned (Jon's camera must be better than mine) and although I could have maybe took it a little further, I was worried that the plastic would 'bloom' badly, as experience has shown that badly discoloured parts such as these have more of a propensity to 'blooming'.

The keyboard was much more successful and looked absolutely immaculate (and was totally cleaned up inside, too) when I returned it to Jon. His prized Microprose sticker under the keyboard wasn't affected at all.

Ill get some pics of the keyboard up shortly.

I didnt realise about the badge Merlin, I went to it with a flash wet wipe and then the commodore logo started to come away, i then thought id try and remove all the writing and just leave the silver C logo but then it started to wipe down to the metal underneat so I gave up. Ill stick with the 030 badge until I can find a 040 one. The new fascia I got was immaculate, so I had to stick with it. It looks like practically new.

I didnt realise about the badge Merlin.....

I must've done quite a good retouching job, if you didn't notice it.... it's a pity that I didn't have any lacquer to hand, or I would have clearcoated it to seal the colours. Mind you, I did make a lot of Airfix model aircraft in my teens, so I became quite good at close-up artwork.
