When in an A1200 without ram the computer boots straight to the attached screen saying the card is defective. If I put some ram in it the computer constantly crashes and resets itself.

Absolutely no idea what is wrong with it, looking for £25 plus postage.

mate i got to ask as i have one of these.

how did you test it with no memory and no jumpers set?

i fixed the one i had and it was the edge connecter(damaged) and some of the gals were loose in the sockets.plus a couple of cut traces on the board.
but,i cant see any sockets on yours.

As it's set in the photo is how i've checked it. The left jumper is on 1-2, the on-off switch has been tried in both positions and the other jumpers were all left open. Will putting some caps on these make a difference? the box of ram I was testing it with was unlabelled so I have no idea what capacity modules I was trying in it.

i know it only works with certain memory upto 8mb double sided simms.
i have a 8mb double sided edo simm in mine and it works fine

the jumpers set capacity of the simm and wether its double or single sided, the on/off switch simply turns off the memory.

the switch should be tested with a multimeter mate as it sets the cards state.just buzz it out to make sure.

if you wait till tomorrow as im tired right now from all the running around today i'll do my best to get the jumper settings.

i could put some memory in it for you and test the card to see if its ok,its just postage.if i have a spare 8mb simm you can have that.
i know you just want to sell it,but still...

So we should wait for the test, or it is still for sale?
(declaring interest, but waiting for -Acid- to decide his moves).

If you want to buy it, I'm willing to sell it how it is. This card is not needed as both of my 1200s have accelerators, if it's an easy fix or is not broke I don't mind letting someone else have a relatively cheap memory board.

I've checked the post cost for you, in a sturdy box it will cost between £3.50 and £5 for basic airmail not tracked (I need to get the card out of my A1200 and weigh it in the box to be certain).

Pm me if you want to buy it still mate.

And returned, if you manage to fix it let us know... it's nice to know hardware has been saved from the grave :)
