Final Fantasy VII Remake

Is it actually an updated version, i.e. better graphics and such or is it just an update to provide support for modern computers?

I will probably buy it either way as the game is one i thoroughly enjoyed :)

From what I understand totally revamped in the graphics department. Plus adds a few extra features.

I have to play it but it send me to sleep

Only for RPG Fans that like them:thumbsup:

On the US Site, they have in-game screenshots of the game. It certainly looks like they either upgraded the graphics or have some heavy filters running on it. Still not sure if I'll buy it because it's probably got DRM and I own the original Playstation game.

The only screenshots I see on the site are all from pre-rendered cutscenes, and I really can't tell if they're higher quality, or if it's just less crappy compression than the PS1's MPEG-1. Usually when they choose not to show you the in-game graphics, that's a pretty telling clue...

...but then, I've never understood why FFVII is so revered anyway. The SNES games were way better.

The intro's etc are the same, just upscaled to the screensize you select, but has the right ratio. The games backgrounds are the same but the player models have all been redone.

The models look exactly the same to me, they're just displayed at higher resolution with better color interpolation. You might as well just buy a copy of the Playstation version and run it in an emulator - you'd get the same results.

Updating these games is pointless especially when they don't change the game at all, they belong to a certain era of gaming and should be played on that hardware imo

There was a PC version back in the day that did have better resolution and rendering than the PS1 version, but it wasnt quite as polished as this one looks.

Curses to them for not re-doing the graphics properly... A PS3 remake would rock.

Good news is, is that reports of the OGG music pack thing works on this version. It does have more polish then any version out, but not enough to warrant the price. I would have been happier if it was a fiver :p But it works on win 7 without hassle, the models are updated, even if not by much. Widescreen is easier to setup. 360 pad works out of the box. All in all not to bad.

If I didnt already have a black label box version and a PSN version I'd be all over it.

Looking at it though I think it actually subtracts from its look. The graphics on the characters look too out of place and you can actually see the edges too perfectly. It almost looks like it was done in flash, like Sonic 4 does.

Well, that's basically it, all you're doing is highlighting how blocky and primitive the models are and stretching some perfectly decent backgrounds to higher resolutions they just look awkward at. They couldn't even be assed to re-render the backgrounds!?

Yeah could have been much better.

Better music:
