Okay so I want to fit US version of Starfox inside a pal machine without modifying the pal machine´s cart slot.

So I would strip the us cart and have to find a donor pal cart to place the circuit board in... Apparently the internal layouts of various pal carts are different.

Question: Has anyone already done this?
Which pal game would be appropriate donor cart?

Obviously the snes will have supercic region free mod.

A lot of trouble because I want the game to be Starfox and not Starwing. Also I think the refresh rate might make a difference. (Or it may not.)

AFAIK it will run at 60Hz and unless you have an RGB SCART cable I think the video output would be in B&W.

Surely StarWing would be a perfect donor cart as it will have the extra slots required for the SUPERFX co-pro edge connector?

Ive opened hundreds of carts and the pcb's seem the same size whether pal or ntsc, the only thing is you will need a super fx cart shell as the donor as these games have the extra connectors at either side and none fx games do not have the slot cut in the shell for them to stick out of.

Take a look at this pic, on the left is PAL Starwing and on the right is NTSC Chrono Trigger, The only thing stopping Starwing going in there is the extra edge connectors.

However if you have the switchless mod done you can play Starwing in 60hz and it will be the same speed as Starfox would run.

^ exactly, the pcbs are the same in both pal and ntsc areas... just cut the plastic at the bottom to accomodate the extra pins or use a dsp cart as a donor (that has the extra pins space already cleared)

Thank you.

I think I will have both the pal and the ntsc version seeing as the main reason for this snes is Starfox 1 and 2 :)

Surely this will be different though

Yes, a lot of trouble for a different title screen :coffee: but still not the nuttiest thing I´ve done.

Your pictures show the circuit boards wouldnt be interchangeable.

The plastic keys in the 4 corners do not match. The circuit boards between games are different. Obviously PAL/NTSC versions of the same game are fine though
