Only last week I bought this Kickstart adapter from these very boards, the sale was great timing so I had to snap it up, was obviously fated!

hmm do I really need one of these kickrom switchers for my soon to be running A1000? I remember there was a kickstart disk hack that will let you boot Kick3.0/3.1 straight from the floppy??

Yes, you can find the superdisk image floating around in the internet.

Small project update...

I got an adapter from Kipper2k for my K508 so it will not fit in the A1000 however it's not working at the moment so I need to investigate if there is a connection issue (K508 works fine without but you just can't connect the floppy drive)

And some fresh pics since I got a nice new A1011 floppy drive which looks awesome alongside the A1000

I posted in Amioracle so maybe we can find the issue :)

Still need some kind of IDE however it's pretty cool having a floppy only based Amiga, reminds me of the old dayz

Hey Buddy,

Excellent work and pictures as always...

Regarding the adapter, if you have a meter then set it to continuity and bell out the pin to pin connections just to make sure there isnt a connection issue.

You can do this with the adapter on its own with no 68k fitted.

Any probs let me know or post it over and I will check it for you....

Try also plugging just the 68k into the adapter and then the adapter into the a1000 or even an a500 if need be.

TC ;)

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread.

Whilst I've gotten my hands dirty on the A2000, A2500, A3000 and my own A4000 and done plenty of fiddling around inside of several A500s, A600s and A1200s I've never had the opportunity to play with an A1000.

Looking forward to further updates.

Thanks for the kind words pink and thanks for the tips TC, I'll check that later! :)

Good job Steve

Is that a standard A1000 keyboard? It looks very nice with the coloured key lettering.

Never had an A1000 but always thought they looked the sleekest  Always good to see the original Amiga especially when its in as good condition as this

Well I managed to solve the issue with Kippers A1000 adapter board, he noticed a defect on the boards and told me to reflow Pins 1-3 and this has solved the issue so now I have the 8mb upgrade installed and working with space to connect the FDD :)

Now we just need some IDE

Nice Steve! Umm... Where do you buy Kippers' stuff? I don't remember seeing anything about this board.

You're the best! I'm guessing you bought the one for the A1000? This upgrade will certainly make it a much more usable system.

It's the A500 board with an adapter to fit the A1000, both sold by kipper2k. Earlier in the thread I posted more pics :-) I think he trying to develop one with ide too.

Another impressive project Steve  So spooky seeing WB3.1 boot on a machine first manufactured in 1985! stunning

I love the signed lid as well - what a touch that most original owners would never have been aware of!
