When I took my GG apart, I realised that I had completely missed 4 caps on the soundboard! They looked in pretty bad shape so I wrapped as much of the board in tin foil to shield it and set about getting them off.
There was quite a bit of residue on the board, but after cleaning it off I could see there was no damage.
The new caps were a little larger than those they replaced, and I could see that a small piece of the shielding was in the way and made closing the case tricky, whilst also putting pressure on the caps themselves.
I trimmed it off, and the case fitted back together with no problems.

I also uploaded a better quality video demonstrating the screen and sound when the repairs are completed.

.... I bought an EverDrive GG and haven't been able to play it because the one GG I had that worked started to white screen so I can't see it any more. :(

I have a couple of the rechargeable battery packs that I may crack open and try to replace the batteries. Adds a lot of bulk to the GG but rechargeable is so nice, especially since these are battery hogs.

Let me know how you get on with the Everdrive, I saw that and was very tempted.
I also just use the mains for my GG. It would be nice to have the option to use it on batteries but without changing the LCD it is just too hungry.
I know that it has been done before, but that is a hack for another day. ;)

Ouch! I'm glad you found them before any damage was done. :) Another great repair!

Thanks for the video. It really does look and sound great.

I sure will. The Everdrive GG is made to be completely enclosed in the case so you cannot remove the SD card without opening the case. I suppose the idea behind this was that you could fit everything ever made for the GG on a single, small Micro-SD card.

Thanks again!
