That's definitely a Flicker Magic. You can tell the difference because it has 6 chips on the main circuit board, Scan Magic boards have only 4 chips (with 2 spaces for chips to be soldered).

Hi

Makes sense, looking at the top image the website :picard:

Even though the sticker says scan magic, i think scan magic has 4 big ICs and flicker magic which is a scandoubler too, has +2 memory chips for the flicker fixing.
Why flicker magic could have extra 2 chips?

yeah this is the full-fledged scandoubler+flickerfixer
so it will promote all modes to 31khz and will also de-interlace

A flicker fixer only version does not exist, just a scan doubler only as seen below.

the above is just a scandoubler - ie it makes modes 31khz
when you have an interlaced mode on amiga you will still get interlaced output at 31khz
the extra chips are used to de-interlace so you do not get that annoying flicker

so basically: flicker fixer is always a scandoubler + flicker fixer
scandoubler is not not always a flicker fixer

According to BBoAH

1. "The Flicker Magic is a flicker fixer and scandoubler" which is designed to be installed in an A1200 or A4000.
2. The Flicker Magic is very similar to the Scan Magic, except the "Scan Magic does not perform flicker fixing."

There is no flicker fixer only version. This is the scan magic.
Sheepz has flicker magic.

it probably does not help that it has a "scanmagic" sticker - but it really also de-interlaces
I assume at some point all of these devices were made full flickerfixers as well and just kept the scanmagic name
it really is half the job to not have the de-interlacing functionality

After finding out some old (and fading) Poloroid pictures of both versions of this interface, I was incorrect (had the names mixed up) and have adjusted my previous posts.

Strangely enough, both versions that I owned in the past had "Scan Magic" stickers on them ...

Both have the Alice clip?

Back in the day, yes. I do recall seeing a version of the board that did not have that - not one that I ever owned though.

I eventually sold mine and moved over to the indivisionAGA's when they first became available.

Probably they've made 3 versions as if there is one without the Alice clip, this must be scan doubler only.
Flicker fixing requires connection to Alice.

Nope, the other one had an external DB23 connector (Video Port) and it got the required H+V SYNC signals from there.

it seems @keropi had one of those ... link
