Re: For those on Sky Broadband - router password recovery

He can't even log into the Router. He can ping it but page unavailble everytime. He already tried the router on his own Pee Cee & he can log into it, so its a Laptop fault.

if that is the case then the norton removal tool followed by repair network to remove traces of norton correctly.

(I believe he removed norton manually which may leave some traces, also the tool resets any registry/network changes norton made to default again.)

Re: For those on Sky Broadband - router password recovery

If it helps, and i hope i'm not breaking any rules here, i believe (i'll have to find it out) i have a copy of a Vista Retail (Don't need a specific Home Basic disc as all versions are on the disc and which one is installed is determined by the product key) disc which i have used with various peoples Laptop OEM Keys to reinstall Vista after they'd lost the original restore data.

It allows a fresh install but you'll need to find or save the laptop drivers.

When you try and activate over the internet it will tell you unauthorised product key, however it will activate over the phone fine and function perfectly.

Any copy of Vista Home will do. The OEM Product Key Code should be attatched to the Laptop in the guise of an official Micro$oft Sticker. Just use that key as in XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX when you re-install. Then there will be no need to phone microsoft. I expect the release version of Vista Home was pre Vista SP1.

This is not breaking any rules Merlin. It's how Volume Licensing works. You probably also know there are programs that can be run to find the Product Key.

I totally understand what you mean Charlie, however, Mike's offer could have been interpreted as not being about a 'first generation original' disc, hence my editing of his offer at the bottom of his post to prevent confusion.

Rules and all that, etc. etc......

Mike and I have sorted a suitable arrangement out by PM that helps me out anyway.... and I am aware that 'magical jelly beans' don't just grow beanstalks.....
