Re: WTB: Buddha Flash Phoenix Edition

Hi Mike,

I still have a spare non-Phoenix Buddha here. It's got 2x IDE connectors & clockport connector, so unless you have an actual Phoenix board, I doubt it's really any different (any corrections here appreciated).

Anyway, if you are interested, let me know :)

Not all buddahs has writable flash. But most do. The Phoenix do.

Mike,

FB beat me to it.

I've got a Phoenix Flash Buddha (non gold) board spare.

Just going to check it and make sure it's ok.

If you're interested?

Re: WTB: Buddha Flash Phoenix Edition

I bought one on ePay last week, but must wait for a ribbon (I must have ordered long one for a 3000tower coz normal ribbon is too short) . I suppose that FAT disks from PC won't normally work under this controller, they must be formatted to fast file system ?

Re: WTB: Buddha Flash Phoenix Edition

Hi guys, to be fair i'm not actually sure what the phoenix bit was about.
I just want a buddha that i can use for the IDE so i can use a CF card & cdrom with My A4000 together as the onboard ide will not allow me to use the cdrom with a CF.
Am i right in thinking that if i use a buddha in the A4000 i will also need an ide terminator to kill the onboard ide?
If the price is right i'll take both FB & Davideo's as i also want one for my A2000.
so if you could both let me know some prices inc p&p.

thanks guys

Mike

Mike,

I had loads of trouble setting up a CF card on the Buddha and finished up dumping it in favour of using a backplate CF adaptor on the internal IDE.

If your internal IDE is not dead then I can let you have a 4 way non-buffered adaptor for the 4000 (I had a HD, CD and CF on this) which should let you do what you want. I used it until I got my SCSI Warp :D

Re: WTB: Buddha Flash Phoenix Edition

@Mike

You can still use the A4000's onboard IDE alongside the Buddha, however If you leave it unconnected then yes you will need a Terminator to avoid that awfull 30Sec startup delay

TC

edit-- Having seen davideo's last post regarding the 4way adapter, That's the way to go my friend as you will not need a terminator & tbh the Buddha does not offer any speed advantage over the onboard IDE

Re: WTB: Buddha Flash Phoenix Edition

I'll take up davideo's offer on the 4way adaptor. Could you send me some details please dave?

However i would still like a buddha for my A2000 so who can provide me with the best offer?

Re: WTB: Buddha Flash Phoenix Edition

Just to add, the Zorro Slot affair will be a tad slower than the onboard because of the ZORRO wait-states!

Re: WTB: Buddha Flash Phoenix Edition

Dunno about that Kinny, my A2000 with Buddha & IDE HDD boots faster than my A1200 :?

@Mike, might be cheaper going for the more local item (postage & all that), but mine is available if you can't reach an agreement.
I can't really say much else, lest I be be price driving, be that either up or down

Re: WTB: Buddha Flash Phoenix Edition

@PZ

To be fair you were first with the Buddha :D

If postage doesn't kill your deal I'm quite happy to let you go on that - plus my Buddha isn't recognising my HD at the moment

Cool Dave, I guess we'll just wait for Mike's decision.

Anyway, have you tried more than one HDD with it?

*EDIT* - Guess I'd better send Mike a PM then...whoops! :)

Totally recomended for the A2000, especially if you want to avoid all that SCSI business :D

Re: WTB: Buddha Flash Phoenix Edition

Re: WTB: Buddha Flash Phoenix Edition

I would have thought it would have been better postage wise for davideo's but if its having problems i guess it'll have to be fingers.
So if its ok with everyone, i'll take fingers buddha depending on shipping cost for my A2000
and davideo's 4way adaptor if he still wants to part with it for my A4000.
If you both could let me know what you would like for them.

Thanks

Mike

Interesting - this worked last time I used it.

Just tried with HD and CD and it found th HD and tried to boot off it :D

If I boot off my original drive on the internal IDE and then use HDToolBox to see whats on the Buddha - FA

I'll keep trying :?

Mike PM on the way for 4 way adaptor.

Only ever used a Buddha on A2000 (hence no native IDE), so you've got me kinda' stuffed there Dave.

Maybe you need to fiddle with something simple like master/slave jumpers?
