No sound
Dim picture
flickering picture.

some details:
2x LED (white) 3v , BIC pen with sides sanded to produce a diffused glow. bundle of caps 3x100 2x4.7uf for the Audio circuit.

love the bic pen for the LED's. I had an LED modded Game Gear (bought it pre-modded) i sold on here a little while ago but instead of a bic they used the original glass tube from the original light.

i didnt fancy opening the glass tube but i may try it on mine :-)

yes i was looking at the Australian RGB out mod and the LCD replacement from a reversing camera but as its not my gamegear and im not really a fan i wont be doing it..

unless i get an LCD cheap..

Nice work Mike

(I have a spare faulty GG if you want one to test on)

Nice work as always, might have to ask you to do mine, it was supposed to be fine, but when it arrived no sound and a really bad picture, so Ive never used it.

sure guys and yes power usage is 5 or 6 times longer ....they say....

its a little bugger to do and the caps leak very badly.

Ohh just found this thread while looking for backlight replacements for my GG, mine's almost packed in (very dim or just flickers ) I've owned her from new but I don't use it that much as it eats batteries and the psu ties you down. But it look's like the LED mod could sort this all out, I've seen the mod on a couple of sites, but really like the bic pen fix :D, I've also seen a Nintendo ds screen used but that look a lot more complex. I do have a question though on a the other sites a 33 ohm resister was used in the circuit ( i.e. http://tibia-mod.dreamwidth.org/486.html) is this not really needed ?

Some people use it and some don't , it doesnt seem to be necessary.
