I know that's in a month or two the 2nd season will start, but I would really to see any opinions if somebody watched the 1st season last year.

So, anyone watched this and what your comments?

Well, now you've thrown a couple of pretty huge spoilers at me, I doubt I'll bother getting hold of the first season...

My apologies mate. First season was played last year (almost a year ago) so I took as granted that many of you have already watched it since then. :(

Ooh, I wonder which of my favourite characters they'll kill off this season! I wonder if any of the children will be decapitated this time. No more male nudity though, please!

The books were even more awesome, although the last was kind of confusing. The only "gripe" I had was the VERY last shot. Deny was described in the books as having ALL her hair burned off (logical) yet in the show, her hair was perfect. Little things like that tend to bug me. It's going to be interesting when the Zombies start showing up.
BTW, the first season was not even half of book one, so we are in for 10 seasons of this epic if HBO decides to do the whole thing.
Remember Martain was/is a TV script writer, so he wrote the books with TV in mind, but this is a long way from "Beauty and the Beast".

No worries! Not bothered really, I may have sounded more hacked off than I actually was.

Yeah, I've got into the habit of skipping series at broadcast and then doing a box set marathon months or years later. Recently watched the first four seasons of Breaking Bad in a week and a half. What a show!

I've seen the first 2 episodes of season 1. Got the rest to watch when I've got time.

Also, I'm part of the way done listening to the 5th audiobook of the series. Quite looking forward to 6 and 7 (when they are done!).

Not sure I'm liking the TV version of the story. It seems to stick very closely to the book, even the dialogue. Not necessarily a good thing. See a film called 'The Langoliers' for an example of why an exact book->screen copy doesn't work.

The show doesn't move along at a fast pace, just like the book. This is seen as a bad thing by many people who only know of the TV show.

Read all the books and they are brilliant. Easilly the best books I have ever read - although George RR Martin is a bit slow at bringing them out (5 years wait for the last one!). Back to the show! I saw a bit of it being filmed in Doune (Scotland) and that was interesting but I wasn't prepared for how that would translate into the actual show. Absolutely brilliant! All of the characters are bang on - the cinematography is bang on and the story (of course it has to be adapted for the screen) is accurate enough for me not to get annoyed. I'm really looking forward to the next seasons if they continue to keep the production high enough.

When HBO did "Rome" - Season one was stunning but then they cut the budget for season two and it really showed and let the show down.

Cheers

John

I've not seen it myself, but my brother raves about it. He's read all the books and loves the series. One day he'll convince me to watch it!

series are good, though not as good as the books. the books are just awesome, no wonder he spends five years writing one. The series are good for what they are, it could've been much worse, the dialogs are short, and missing RR Martins 'inner thoughts' of characters really makes the scenes kind of bland sometimes, but they capture the spirit of the series nicely ...

Really enjoyed the 1st season, will definitely read the books but only after the series is over (dont want to ruin anything).
My only gripe is that the season was too short & the long wait for the next one is torture...

Loved the first series and really looking forward to the second.

Was quite horrific to see the horses head chopped off, the witch burnt to death, the persons tongue cut out and the molten metal poured over someones head

But still looking forward to the 2nd season :)

I saw the HBO series. They almost follow the first book, with a little character adaptation and some (hard to film) episodes.

The books are miles better. Too bad the time George Martin takes to write a book is so not funny!

not meaning to rake over old coals too much but when is the second season due to start

many sites like ch131.com have it streaming

Here too.

I read the four available books and the series are following the books correctly. Me likes!

Snoozy, it looks like season 2 started tonight (Well last night as it past midnight ) in the UK on Sky Atlantic.
