GBA1000 rev4 Build Log

Hi,
is there a complete partlist available? Maybe I have overlooked so I feel sorry. I got my RAM from kipper, so are they for 3v or 5v ?

Christmas is coming step by step and I will be prepared with all parts :D

best regards

FD

monday go on my finished gba1000 and verify all, but need more info on various jumper first

Well, I don't understand why you want to put 3v components onto GBA.
The Gba 1000 use the PSU of the A1000... and there is not 3v regulator onto
the mainboard. Take a look at the ODS file (LibreOffice or OpenOffice). It's the
list of semiconductors parts. I have put in red the line for the RAM... and it's 5 volt.

Mine are 5v versions

parts list is a few pages back for mouser.

the ram you want is the 5v stuff, CY7C1049D-10VXI. not the 3v stuff you probably have. you will need to buy new ram.

I'm just at the stage of putting an order together for all the parts having bought a board just after Xmas. On the GALs, is there any reason that I couldn't use the faster 16V8-15's for all 6 of the V8's rather than 3 of 15 and 3 of 25 ?

Not sure with GALs if that's the speed they are capable of, and so faster would be fine, or otherwise.

Thanks.

Hi,
my GBA1000 is finished, and after some troubles (broken Agnus) is working well :)
Thanks hese for programming my GALs.

Hi,
thanks for your help. I local chip broker couldn´t get them anymore. Do you know alternativ ICs which could be used?

mouser have them for about $5.34 if you get 16 of them, I think I got mine from ebay for $5.00 per chip for lot of 16.

I dont know alternatives.

I ordered mine this week. Sadly they're on a slow boat from China so won't arrive for anything up to a month, but they were quick and easy to order.

Depending on where you are and how long you want to wait, Farnell in the UK have them, but a fair bit more money:

$4.65 for one chip is a very attractive price, a have bought them in Mouser for $5.61 (4.06 euro), I bought 32 pieces (for me and the other guy) so the price was discounted a little bit. And shipment was extremaly fast - they were posted from USA, and I have got them in my home in Poland after 2 days.

Hi,
I found OS62 partlist. Question is where did you guys got all the other parts like external connectors or power connector?

Best regards

FD

Power connector I got from a friend but it's only Molex KK header pins so I would have had some kicking about in the workshop anyway I expect. All the other stuff like the connectors and what have you, the awkward ones like 23 pin D-SUB are being re-used from a non-working A500+ motherboard I bought off eBay for £15, along with all the custom chips.

Obviously for me to know the custom chips are any god I need to fix the non-working board first, but I still won't feel bad about scrapping the motherboard since it's literally just that, no keyboard, case, PSU or anything.

my first gba1000 don't start, black screen, no activity from floppy and hd

my first gba1000 don't start, black screen, no activity from floppy and hd

:censored:

- gals programmed?
- lsi programmed?
- using an a1000 psu? or different psu with jumper for tick?
- kickstart in right socket?

did you DMM test any voltage points against gnd on the board to see if power is going anywhere?

I have a black screen too but my gals and lsi are not programmed yet. But at least i have power. The hardest thing for me is to find someone or some place where i can program them. My GQ-4X eprom programmer can't program them.

gals programmed
a1000 psu nos and test on a1000
kick original in u12
lsi not programmed
voltage correct

LSI must be programmed, but I don't know if you would expect a black screen or some other screen without it.
