Hi all, owned an A2000 back in the day. Recently rediscovered that the Amiga scene is still going strong so bought myself a "working" A500 Rev6a off ebay and that's where the "fun" has begun. It would throw a guru error everytime I tried to load something so tried reseating chips which then made things much worse from then on. It will occassionally bring up the insert disk screen but more often than not it will either be black, white or green and 1 time a yellow screen!? One time I was able to load Amigatest kit and it failed on memory test so maybe the memory is bad? Voltages look fine across all chips, board looks very clean and no signs of battery acid damage. The pins of some of the sockets do seem to have some corrosion but they continuity test ok. I am trying to source some replacement chips & cpu to see if it changes anything. Then maybe move onto replacing the sockets - although that is out of my skill set and paying someone to do it will probably cost more than the amiga itself (and I can afford!). In the end, I may need to cut my losses and forget about owning real hardware as sad as that is. Anyway good to be hear and hopefully I can pickup some tips in the forums.

Welcome to Amibay!
