Greetings Amibayers:
I am looking for this kickstart rom for my A2000. I recently bought one from evilbay that did not work, and later learned about things called eproms (which was what I unknowingly purchased).
If a breed of "genuine" 40.63 roms are available I am very interested. Pls shoot me a PM if you're interested in selling one.

Thanks!

Chris

I dont think there ever was an official(not eprom) 3.1 rom 40.63 for A500/2000

Almost, if not all, 40.63's (the version for the A500/600/2000) where based on EPROM's. They were made by Power Computing and Villagetronic under license. They most commonly have a white label.

The 40.68 comes in both version, a burned chip (which basically still is a eprom, but it is not eraseable) (Often labeled MX) and the version with the white labels.

Wasn't this AmigaOS3.1 Upgrade Kit official enough, since it was released by Commodore? And it did include a rom chip as well. :)

Thats AmigaOS, this can still run on top of kickstart 3.0

Attached is a pic of an original kickstart bought from Vesalia. And nr 2 compared to an eprom.. Ceramic vs plastic
I don't know if Amigakit or Vesalia still sells these, but I wouldn't be surprised :-)

Yes (photo #1). Evidently all versions were available, although my box came with just one of the two 1.4 KS chips (apparently it was thrown in after an upgrade to 3.1 was performed on an A3000).

I also have another 3.1 package (#2, #3). There's no mention of ROMs on the box, but inside the box were two pages from Power Computing (#4, #5). On these, the 3.1 ROMs are only referenced as such, while the 1.3 and 2.04 are also referenced by code number. I believe the matching 3.1 ROM for this is #6, and looks like an EPROM.
#7 is the 3.1 ROM I have on my main A500 and was bought from Vesalia, the chip packaging is clearly different and resembles the "originals".

Wow, really cool. Thanks for all the information!

So, BLTCON0 or Tomse, wanna sell one of those 3.1's? :D
If not, I may have a local option. Just waiting for a PM.

Thanks again, all. Really appreciate your help.

Chris
