Hi all...
I have been modding a RocTec RocHard RH800C to accept internal power from the Zorro-Slot. And I have upgraded it to 8mb of Ram. Reason for doing the power-mod is to use CF cards only, and to get rid of the FAN noise and platter drive noise. Also. I bought it untested without any PSU. Basically, to use CF cards and not to source or build a new external PSU.
Everything works. Ram ran through 17 or 19 cycles of test with no errors and I can use CF cards. However. There are one tiny issue that I can not get around. When using the formatter-tool (had to download DMS and covert to ADF with XDMS tool on linux first), then I can only get 8 and 32 megabyte CF cards to work. I have tested with three 512 megabyte cards and one 512 megabyte DOM, and the formatting tool say invalid parameters or wrong parameters. Or something like that. When trying with a 1gb card, the Amiga will not even boot to kickstart at all.
So my question is if there is a max capacity that this controller will only support. Perhaps 256 or 125 megabyte. The drive is for a stock late-80's setup anyway, and not for WHD Loader or anything like that. Just a nice big upgrade the 80's style. (Amiga500, ECS chipset, 68000 CPU, 2mb Chip, 8mb Fast and HDD)
