Isn't Atari using a fileformat similar to PCs? If so, then the regular firmware should be good for that?

Well I am going for it just because its there/available :D
I already have some HxC's.

So the grey/white version and a usb debug cable is what I am after. I even have some pin strips that I will cut and solder in for a more tidy go at re-programming it (the solder holes are present)

What I am most interested in is... can you save the original firmware before putting on the modified one?

Will it only work with cracked disk images? I assume it will not allow IPF's?

Then the next logical question: will it work in an external drive case? (if it does then great)

The last question/request is! If the Amiga can work, then please lets sort the Atari ST out. Heck even other stuff could work like the C64, Spectrum etc :D

The new firmware lets you use standard ADF files as floppy disks

Unfortunately the original firmware is protected and can't be copied as far as I can tell. You have to remove the protection to re-flash the firmware with the updated one i.e.

"Since the Gotek firmware is protected against the read, the software ask you to remove the protections. This will erase the flash and the firmware shipped with the device will be lost. Please note that this operation cannot be reverted !"

I used the link from EAB and saved the page as xxx but this link takes you to the same place with some comments added (look at the top right side of the screen to more of the same links to comments) :-

I got the Gotek drive yesterday but still waiting for the USB to RS232 flasher to arrive, shouldn't be long now :)

Ok...when I do received them then plug in Amiga 1200 then it should work when i plug USB Memory with Amiga files....

is that correct?

@AF, when you receive them you will need to flash the firmware of the Gotek drive with the new Amiga firmware then plug it into your amiga and load from your USB drive.

Yes. So I just need memory stick then download firmware from net then bingo

Hmm I have a MAX232 circuit that I used to for other less legitimate purposes, so could probably use that to flash the firmware.

Has anyone got theirs working yet think I might get one.

Yep I refirmwared one yesterday
with 5v serialcable
just managed to spend 30m, not getting connection with the drive..

because i took the ground pin on the graphic too literally.
connection and all worked when using the powerconnectorground pin Closest (the one right next to the 5v, Doh!)

Dungeon Master in a flash!

Ordered all mine last night - ordered from Hongkong in the end as was the cheapest. Don't really want it for the Amiga, hoping to see Atari ST fw in the not too distant future.

There's been talk over at CPC Wiki forums that a CPC compatible firmware is in the works.

The Gotek sure is tempting. If it gets CPC and +3 support, I'll get one for sure.

About ST. Shouldn't the default firmware work with ST, if the Gotek supports 720 kB DOS images?

I suspect not but is loading from usb/sd any quicker than actual floppy?
