Nice to be here! Did some searching around for an active Amiga community before settling with you guys!
Spent my infant (not to be confused with current infantile) years hammering away at my dads A1200 aimlessly, spent the rest of my life trying to explain to anybody that would listen how much joy that system brought me and how even the sight of it makes the hairs on the back of my neck spring up. If I recall we had an A500 but switched over before I got my mitts on it. Anyway, my sister took ownership of the A1200, since it switched off for the last time, probably circa 1996 as I don’t remember seeing it since then. She stored it lovingly until last year when she rather kindly decided to bestow it upon me. Now I’ve finally got around to gathering all it’s missing parts, it had a faulty PSU and I’m concerned the disks weren’t reading last time we used it so an internal drive replacement may be in my near future.
So I’m here to gather as much information as I can, it’s my first foray as an adult into for lack of a better word ‘semi-restoration’. We also lost boxes and boxes of software (almost more annoyed about those storage cases), so I’ve begun sourcing as much software as possible, boxes were possible, an old tank mouse and a new PSU. I’m hoping to find some more boxed software where possible and hopefully a joystick too! The hardest thing to find so far seems to be a period display
