Hello everyone!

My name is Francesco, i began my journey back in the day with a second-hand MSX as a kid, re-discovering now instead the commodore ecosystem, starting from the low level.

I'm interested mostly in reverse engineering, demo/game development, software preservation and hardware repairing / modding.

I try to focus mostly on Commodore 64 and Amiga, but i occasionally bang my head over an Atari STF.

I also have some relics around from my early PCs, can't decide what to do with that.

Not a lot of retro activity in my area, so here i am.

Ciao Francesco, benvenuto!

I'm in Bologna, and recently I got an Atari 520STfm. It needs some repair [kb isn't working properly, some keys don't work and I'd like to install EmuTOS instead of its original TOS]. Why do you say you bang your head on Atari? Is it a new system for you and you don't know where to start from?

I'm into Amiga too, I got A600 and A1200.

Enjoy AmyBay then!

grazie!

i bought it as damaged (20 bombs), after a lot of learning and poking and testing traces and replacing most of the chips and using diagnostic carts (even with custom rom) i still did't fix it, i only narrowed it down to be a bus error happening very early but from here i'm not sure how to narrow down further... i found a broken trace, a blown up resistor too but fixing those didn't impact the original issue, nor did the "mandatory fixes" suggested by exxos...

that's great!! planning to get an A1200 as well at some point in the future, bare metal AGA and (so far) not terribly expensive...
Enjoy AmyBay then!
will do, thanks again!

grazie!

20 bombs made me ROTFL - but I would have said "20 babbà" and you know what I'm talking about!
Know what I got it for free on a FB group "Free if you pick it up" [te lo regalo se vieni a prenderlo, NdR] and it SEEMS good.
But as I said: some keys are not working at all. And mouse is moving crazy so I think it needs a rework.

lucky!

yeah hopefully keys just need some deep cleaning? the mouse might be trickier... for my Amiga 500 i ended up replacing the mouse board with optical

I don't know if a proper and patient cleaning will fix that.
And a YouTube video shows that a crazy mouse can be fixed by replacing something.
Anyway I'm broke now - and I have few spare time for retro projects so...
