Hi everyone.
Here's an "old" (I'm 52 now) swedisn nerd. Started out fiddling with computers back in 1980 when a classmates father got an ABC-80. When I started highschool in august 1983 in a new town one of the classmates had a VIC-20 that we spent pretty much every weekend coding and hacking on. Then in late November same year I got myself a C=64 and frome there on my soul was lost. The year after I got the 1541, what bliss it was compared to the datasette.
So much was coded, both from magazines and of my own on that throughout highschool and then all the games that was played.
After doing my military service I got my first real job in late 1988. A freind of mine had gotten an Amiga (The original one before it was called A1000) a few years earlier and I so badly wanted one. Hence as soon as I got the chance I went to the bank and took a loan and just went across the street to buy me an A500 with the 1084 monitor, a 1010 disk drive, the A501 memory expansion and my first game for it, F/A-18 Interceptor. The cost was a small fortune back then. In 1992 I got a GVP HD8+ with 2MB ram and a 120MB Quantum drive as well as a VXL-30 with a 2MB Ram-32 for it. Now that was a fast computer in my world, at least for as long as the 2MB lasted.
Unfortunately I sold my C=64 after this, something I regretted a few years later. I got a C=64C with a 1541-II diskdrive and datasett in the late 90's but I haven't really done anything with it since, I parted with all disks and tapes when I sold my original one.
Also in the late 90's I got myself a used A4000D with a CS-MkII/040, CV64/3D, MFC-III and a scandoubler and later I got an Ariadne-II since we got cable internet where I lived. This was my main computer up until spring 2002.
I still have both my original 500 and the 4000. The latter is still in use now and then but it's about time to get it some new caps and a new psu. I recapped my A500 and replaced the PSU for that 2018.
In a few months I'll be moving to a bigger apartment where I hope I'll have room to have both Amigas and the 64 to be out in the open all the time. Looking to refresh the hardware for my Amigas to make them more useful and modern, with all the projects that's around the future for my beloved computers are looking a lot brighter than it did only a few years ago.
