GVP 530 - Help regarding what is missing, what is in a complete unit?

I have a GVP 530. It was bought years ago and was put away, until recently where I had a proper good look
at what I have.

The previous owner had done things to it:

1. Are these 530's meant to have a plastic sheet under the pcb? mine has a sheet of card crudely cut to isolate the board,
also I think they cut out card to protect a 286 add-on which is no longer present.

2. Is there meant to be a top RF shield along with a small shield on the zorro card area?

3. Can I power the unit from the Amiga itself? or is it best to use the original psu?

4. I am going to need some hex post riser/stand off's. Has anyone had to use something like this to mount an hard drive or
scsi2sd. I have recently bought a Bluescsi with a 3dprinted bracket ready to go.

I don't know tbh, but I guess it's about the quality and condition of your Amiga PSU.

But I keep coming back to Q7 over at the Power Shark FAQ:

7. My Amiga has every expansion ever manufactured plugged into it. Will it work?
In our experience, people frequently have a somewhat exaggerated idea of their Amiga's power consumption, because most power supplies currently used (including Commodore's and contemporary aftermarket ones) have relatively low efficiency. When the power consumption is then measured at the mains socket, it is often way off from what is really used by the Amiga. Large part of it goes into heating the power supply (and sometimes the cable).
But there are obviously limits. So far we have not seen an Amiga that failed to stably work with a 12V/3A power supply, but it does not mean there isn't a guy somewhere who managed to assemble a configuration that makes lights darken when powered on. Generally though, you should avoid pumping much more power than the Amiga connector - and circuit board's tracks - were designed to carry, and for a very heavily expanded setups, supply power through some additional connection. As we receive more information from our users, we will publish detailed information about the limits and consumption of various setups, but so far our testers exercised configurations with 68030/40/60 accelerators, Vampires, RaspberryPi (3 and 4), ACAs, graphics/networking cards, flicker-fixers, Goteks, external drives, etc., and the largest observed draw from the 12V line was below 2.2A.

So from this, if you feel confident about your Amiga PSU I'd say "why not"?

But I have no electronic engineering background fwiw...

I wouldnt use the A500 to power it unless you plan on using a ZuluSCSI or something. Not an actual spinning HDD.

I've had 3 of these, all used of coarse, and none had a bottom plastic shield. One did have an upper RF shield.

I completely agree about that, I just assumed we all use some form of solid state storage today.

I have no plans to use the original psu.

I have a zuluscsi on a 3d printed bracket ready to go, just need to fish through my stuff to find some support posts/screws,
pretty much all of that is missing! I think, only two original case screws are there!
