I found a NOS hard drive bracket for the GVP G-Force 030 accelerator in my Amiga 2000, but can't understand how it clips on.

I *think* that the hooks on the bottom edge sit under the accelerator, whilst the top edge has a 'groove' that the GVP card sits in - but, given that the bracket is made of metal, there seems to be a high risk of shorting to the PCB.

I might be doing it wrong - can someone reassure or correct me? Thanks!

Your description sounds familiar as I had one of those and do remember that you clipped the bottom two clips on then pushed/rotated the whole drive until the metal part snapped into place along the top of the card. Then insert the card into the Z slot. There was no risk of a short because the clips were designed to have the HD standing off from the board by a few mm - maybe 8 mm if I recall correctly. Also, again if I recall correctly, you mount the drive on the backside of the card.

Check the pictures here. It clearly shows the two clips along the bottom and the triangular shaped piece snapped over the top.

Check this from the GVP Technical Support reference manual:

"The original HD mount bracket will cause damage to traces on this PCB. If plastic strip protection is not already installed, this bracket should be replaced. The new HD mount bracket released during the 3rd quarter of 1992 is for use on all GVP G-Force and Combo accelerator products. The old brackets may still be used on Combo22/33 models of GVP accelerators. Boards with trace damage should be returned to GVP for repair."

Thanks! I hadn't seen that. The bracket included instructions dated June 1992, which I guess just precedes that.

I wonder what the plastic strip protection is?

Edit: This is the card, as listed when I bought it. There's another one on sale at https://shop.myamigashop.com/produc...a-gvp-accelerators-2000-2000hd-2500-06-18-23#, which is clearly slightly different and has rubber feet added - maybe that's the later version?
