Hi there, I've tried searching for an answer to this but havent managed to find one, unless it's to display an Amiga without it being connected.

I've run out of room in my gaming cabinet and wanted to hang a newly purchased Amiga (1200) vertically on the wall or cabinet door, as there just isnt the room for it to be laid flat. (my gaming cabinet it also my desk, so my laptop sits on a shelf with runners)
Are there any reasons I shouldnt do this, or would it be okay to do so and it'll function fine? I am planning to buy 8mb fastram in the future, if that makes a difference.

Thanks.

Worst case scenario would be possible strain on the ports where the mouse/joystick/monitor/etc cables are plugged into unless they are suitable secured. TBH it shouldn't make any difference in operation though.

Most people use the hangers strictly for putting the machines on view, as in the picture below.

Thanks, Miggy. They're the display brackets I've seen. I was surprised I hadnt seen any example of them connected to screens.
I'll give the joystick element some consideration & probably use a joystick cable extension to help mitigate that.

I didnt think there would be much of an issue hanging one vertically, as most mobo's are hung that way in PC cases but I just didnt really know how Amiga's were designed and who better to ask than you lot!

What do you mean? Boards inside cases are mounted with screws and standoffs, they're not suspended on cables. You could make some sort of suspension ropes/wires with flat hooks and hang it that way. I wouldn't have it hung on the ports themselves.

The question was in regards to whether being hung (as a whole unit, not the mobo) would have an impact on operation, eg-heat etc. For example, there are a number of consoles where upright positioning and vertical mounting creates poor airflow, or strains the CD drive and I didnt know whether the same would be the case for an Amiga. It's old tech, after all.
It's not something I have ever seen someone do, unless being displayed on a wall but not connected, so I was simply wondering whether there was a reason for that. It doesnt seem there is, it's just not what people do. Miggy has reassured me that it should be fine.
