My Amiga 1000 just turned 27yrs old this month. The manufacture date stamped on the power supply sticker is 11/85.

I am just amazed that these machines continue to run and run without fail. Every component that you see in the picture below is original and never serviced. Monitor, keyboard, mouse, computer... Never had a power supply failure, component failure, picture tube failure, etc, etc...

In contrast, I have modern PCs that cant keep HDs running for more than 2yrs, LCD screens that have blown twice in 2yrs, and the list goes on.

They definitely don't make them like this anymore.

Just wanted to pay homage to Commodore and the great machines they built! It's too bad the company is gone because I would love to have seen what Amiga we would have in this day and age.

Happy Birthday Amiga!

Many Happy Returns  She's a lovely example!

Yes, it amazes me just how reliable our machines are :) You can tell the passion for the original 1000 with all the signatures on the case...

imo the vast amount of computer electronics from the 80's/early 90's were built to last. :)

fine specimen dude, happy birthday.
My A500 would just have turned 24 (end of october) if my parents didn't thow it away 1 week ago :censored:

Thanks guys! I try to take care of my Amigas. They get taken apart and cleaned regularly.

Feel free to post any pics of your own Amigas.

Totally agree - such a lovely touch and something most A1000 owners back in the day would have been totally unaware of!

This is one of the small touches that shows how much pride and joy the team had in the Amiga.

I discovered the signatures back in the 90s when I had a friend do a RAM hack and install 2MB of RAM in my Amiga. It was so cool to see everyone who built my computer.

It's the same feeling I get when I pop the hood on my Mercedes and see the engine builder's name on the plaque in the middle of my engine.. Ok.. maybe not exactly the same...

Great machine, well looked after by the looks of her too! Kudos!

And Happy Birthday to her!

Well, it's not like "all" the creator's of they Amiga don't know that they lasted this long. I can't think of any other company (except maybe Apple, Woz, and the original Mac team), the the creators are so well known and still active in the field today. I know Dave Haynie still goes to most Amiga shows if he is invited and can attend, and still pops up every now and then.
It's like that for most of the Commodore guys also- Bil Hurd will probably talk to anyone. There are not many companies, that the guys are that approchable. But then again Commodore and Amiga (the company) were like no other businesses now or then, and the fan base just refuses to let go.

It would be interesting to see who is more passionate fan.

The Commodore 8 bit camp or the Amiga users. lol:lol:

Just realized... The Amiga 4000 turned an even 20yrs old!

There is a World of Commodore show here in Toronto at the end of the month.

Some of them might be there.
