So now that I've finally acquired a SCSI controller for my Amiga 1000 (Microbotics StarDrive) I need to find myself an external SCSI hard drive that will work with AmigaOS 1.3. I was thinking of an external SyQuest drive, but I don't know if it can be read by 1.3. I know regardless that I'll have to boot off floppy; I plan to use it for the old games (like the AD&D Gold Box games) that can be installed to a hard drive.

Thanks!

If the Starboard SCSI is compatible with the RDB standard (I think it is), catch the disk image of any A500 compatible controller (A2091, GVP Faaastprep, etc) and have a Sysinfo disk around (3.24 or better).

First, with the Sysinfo disk, locate the correct name of the SCSI controller on the devices list. It must be something like "stboard.device".

Remember the name well (it is case sensitive, be warned), then, with the installer floppy of any of above inserted, call the CLI window.

Type in "HDtoolbox name_of_the_scsi_controller" (or the equivalent partitioning program of the disk). Prepare the disk (select device name and partition size) and quit after saving the changes.

On workbench will be possible to format the fresh-made partitions and only then open a CLI (aka newshell) and, with the WB1.3 disks inserted, type in:

Copy df0:/ to NAME_OF_THE_BOOT_PARTITION(don't forget the two dots at the end) ALL CLONE QUIET

Repeat for the Extras disk.
