I notice that when I have my CF/IDE adapter as the master and my Creative CD-ROM drive as slave (or cable select) on the IDE port of the Amiga, the HDD LED always remains lit, even with no activity. If I remove the CD-ROM, the HDD activity light works normally.

Is this a fairly common complaint? Has anyone here seen and found a nice workaround?

I installed IDEFix from somewhere a while back but it did not change the behavior.

prob unrelated but i have had the same issue with a samsung 80gb HDD on my A1200 led lit all the time and gets brighter during hdd activity, changed to a 30gb hdd or 32gb sdcard and the hdd led only lights during hdd activity, so have you tried a diff ide device as could be compatibility issues like some WD drives on older PC's not detecting correctly unless on their own cable not sharing.

Interestingly, when I use the 3.9 utility "playCD", the hdd light goes off. Subsequent access of the CF makes the light flash properly.

These sort of issues are quite common with some CDROM and HDD combinations.

Might be resolved by using a 4way IDE splitter, I assume they are device 1 & 2 on the same cable?
