Batch update (23/03/2019)
I just thought I would update you on a situation regarding the adapter since you have declared interest. Everyone who has declared interest will be receiving this message and I will also be updating the thread regarding this.
I've been slowly making up some of these boards and everything has been going well but I need to let you know about an issue with the ribbon cable that connects to the indivision and give you the chance to confirm this is ok or withdraw interest.
I've struggled to source the cables I used in the original ones I made, so I decided to make my own cables this time. The new supplier I found to make my own cables cost more than what I originally used but I made the decision to not increase the price and swallow the costs (of an already tiny profit).
I've hit an issue with this however, I somehow ordered the wrong pitch ribbon cable so unfortunately it's the wrong size and can not be used (I now have 4 metres of ribbon cable not being used). I have since found another supplier of the correct cables (ready made this time) but not only are they even more expensive, they also don't come in small quantities. I did find somewhere offering custom orders but they require bulk orders and being an unemployed student I just don't have that kind of money (and would probably never sell that many adapters anyway).
So enough of the background story, the issue is this... I have 3 options:
* Sell them at the original £12 and make a loss on every single one I sell, which is something I can not justify
* Cancel the whole thing, something that I don't want to do as I have money tied up in this
* Increase the price to cover the costs, I could sell them at about £18 to break even. This would cover parts, the solder and flux thats used, packaging (as the postage costs i've been offering just cover the basic postage costs that royal mail charge) and the costs travelling to the post office. But, I've decided to sell them at £20 each. I realise this is a large increase but it covers all my costs and gives me about £2 per adapter to make it worth my time.
So, just to confirm: costs have increased, making these adapters now £20 each (plus shipping).
The design has also been improved removing the need for the plastic nut, this hasn't increased the costs at all and has in-fact helped with costs as it means i haven't needed to buy extra fittings. After speaking with a mod, I've contacted everyone first regarding the update and then updated the thread. If i've missed anyone while messaging I apologise, please get in touch if you have any questions.
I understand if anyone wishes to withdraw their interest. I apologise for any issues this has caused but I hope you understand, I've not taken this increase lightly and it's something I've been dwelling on for a couple of days now on how to try and remove the need for any increase in price.
