Hi All,
Just decided to bring my A2000 back to life after sitting collecting (unfortunately mouse) dirt and other issues.
Upgraded to Kick 3.1, which meant I needed to update the roms on the other boards, so ran in 68k only mode for a while. Humbling to think once 7mhz was fast!
After a good clean, a new HDD and writing some new EPROMS she is as good as new.
Recapped as a precaution, Battery was removed 10+ years ago when I got it so almost zero corrosion or other board problems.
At some point the serial port died, so I replaced one of the serial transceiver ICs, and everything tests fine now.
Has A2091, A25000 and A2620 boards.
Have tried TF534 but found its almost useless with all the other hardware, and the biggest bug that annoys me is that any terminal or networking software crashes when writing to disk.
Downloads to ram: gotek: floppy: fine, Can save files to the SCSI HDD but using it is terribly slow (115kb/s)
Tried multiple CF Cards, a real 2.5" HDD, a stupid amount of software reconfiguring and all sorts!
One day I hope that solutions to all these issues will appear and the machine can live on peacefully! (WITH THE COVER BACK ON!)
I've started stocking up on EPROMs, Ram chips and all sorts of bits and pieces again, and finally enjoying computing and electronics again!
time to go WHDLoad something and just listen
Alex.
