Hi Amibay Group.

My Name is Paul (Zippy Zapp) and I have been around Commodore computers as a kid first in 1981 with a Vic20, in 83 with a C64. I ran a small BBS in the late 80's in the SF Bay area first called Space Age then City Limits. I added Amiga in 1988, first the 500. Then a 2000 and a 1200. Unfortunately my entire Amiga setup was lost and never returned. It is a possibility that after all these years my A2000 will be back as it was found recently and waiting on exchange. Hopefully it still works. Loaned out to a friend who loaned to a Son. Long story.

Just recently got all my C64 stuff back from storage and looking forward to getting back what was never returned. A long and expensive journey I am sure. Kind of bummed about that as emulators just are not the real deal.

Sorry to hear about your Amiga loss, and yeah, PC emulation can't guarantee the visuals and sounds of a real Amiga, but I hope you can find a good deal here. I'd recommend an A1200 + 030 50MHz and 16-128mb ram + CF hard-disc if you don't know what to get. If you want to go big box then I'd recommend an A4000, but some prefer A3000s due to their shapely curves and I think they have similar upgrade options to an A4000 too. There's quite a lot of choice these days. There's talk on here about accelerators for boosting an A600 with an FPGA based accelerators for the future too, which would be awesome if it could be possible to power up a CDTV (my personal favourite looking Amiga).

Are you anywhere near San Dimas or Azusa? My lady is from around there. We're spending Christmas there this year, and my dad's coming too! His first time to America ever ever ever!

He's going to experience NTSC! Hot dogs on sticks! Pancakes and bacon on the same plate (or should I say frying pan (or should I say skillet)) Automatic transmission automobiles (joke!) the size of tanks! Roads to accommodate tanks!

Mmm, surf n turf tacos at the Rockin' Baha in the middle of winter with the sun beating down. I'll be the guy playing a Sega Gamegear in a deck chair in shorts and flippy floppies, when everyone else is wrapped in woolen jumpers shivering under an out-door heater XD

Being an ex-smoker, I love how barely anyone smokes out there too.

...and of course, a hefty road-trip north is the birth-place of the Amiga. I'd love to visit there one day. I'll take lots of photos, because the street-view isn't so great around there.
