Hey there, I am a 51 year old, who started in "computing" with a Binatone Pong console back in 1976 or so.

By 1986 I owned an A500, traded up from the sale of my Commodore 64 and games. A much loved machine, which was mainly used for gaming, and some graphics dabbling ((Vista Pro, Real 3D), which again was traded, to updrade to an A1500 in 1991 or so. By then I was in college doing a graphic design degree. I even got an Apple Mac bridge card for it, so I could do some layout work from my student digs, but it did suck a bit, as I only had a 68000 in it.

On leaving college and getting my first job, I traded up, one last time, with the A1500 being replaced by an A4000. Very happy with it, until a year later, I got a job working on a video game, as a 3D artist on PCs, and I REALLY needed a PC to learn 3D Studio in the evenings. So sadly the A4000 was sold, and I moved into PCs.

Now, I have been collecting quite a range of old retro putes, slowly gathering my old machines, plus many more. So in terms of Amiga, I now have an A500, working when bought. An A2000, bought broken and then repaired to working, with a PiStorm in it. And most recently a LONG drive to Worcester saw me returning with an A4000 in my boot.

On testing it, it was totally dead, black screen, no floppy drive tick, nothing.... Sadly, the usual battery barf had took out its ram slots and it appears one of its ram control chips, so its not fully working yet, despite many bodge wires. But DOES now boot, but has no fast ram still. Im waiting for a home renovation to complete, before I get any table space back, so I can continue its revival.

Luckily its an early 68040 machine, with I think 8mb of Fast Ram (when working). It was used by an ITV employee, maybe to do some local TV channel stuff. So a well worked machine. Which will be very nice once I have got it all working again.

Anyway, looking forward to dipping in here every now and again.

Amiga Forever!
