Hi all,
I'm a proud owner of Amiga 500, which was my first foray into the world of personal computers. We had a good time, and recently I've managed to save it from being dumped by my parents (basement cleaning time
). But the problem is that my Amiga is so furious for years of neglection that it started to eat disks (followed by some ear-hurting screetching noises). I've cleaned the heads, but it seems that it's not a problem. Now I'm in the hunt for a replacement drive.
If someone have a recommendation which series of FDD's work with Amiga 500 and that it's not expensive, I would be more than grateful.
I'm also looking at alternatives (since half of my floppys aren't working anmyore) in the form of FDD emulators. So far I've only found HxC solutions, but they are rather pricey. Are there any affordable solutions in this field?
Anyway, it's nice to become a member of this great community.
