Hi All –

I am a long-time Commodore fan, beginning with my childhood C64. I mowed many lawns in my neighborhood to earn the money to buy it. I must have been 12-13 years old. My parents new nothing about computers, yet they bought the “monitor”, an RCA color TV. My Dad built the computer desk for it, a perfect fit for my small bedroom. Once I had the computer, I soon realized that I needed a 1541 disk drive. I went back to mowing lawns the next summer to purchase it. I couldn’t get it to work with blank disks until I read the manual and realized I had to format the disks! That was a revelation. That entire experience of work and discovery, and the years of learning how to use and program my C64 had a profound and lasting effect on me. I had an A500 in my early years of college, which I thoroughly enjoyed using. I recently re-discovered the thrill of using the C64 and A500, found a few to refurbish, and found this vibrant retro computing community. It is refreshing, I feel like a kid again!
