Ah sometimes its the end of a chapter that starts new things.
History of my Commodore years would start with my C64, bought from Comet! I remember it well, the Terminator2 cartage pack (almost broke the joystick with that game).. Mainly a games machine like most, but I did jump into bits and bobs also.
Then my Amiga 500+, oh my god my life changed forever that day. I suppose like many, thats when most of us became complete geeks because we had the real power to explore, create and master..
over the years, I had a couple 500+, 600 and 1200's.. Nothing made me more proud, than my luscious 1260T. For many a year, it ran a BBS til 2005! Most wont know of it as it was warez (to and from the Barras lol). The web, mail and IRC server also ran at the same time, with month by month of uptime!
I have been in Ayrshire Amiga Society, but that was where I first became bullied in any case. Which was a shame, as some of the folk were damn nice. But the guy that ran it, Dale Kirkwood, DaleK on IRC. He made my life a misery. Also along side Jim and that other flabby bugger - Imagine picking on a teenagers, as I wasnt the only one they bullied!! Did it make you feel all manly? I heard via the grapevine things didnt go too well for the bullies - just desserts!
Thankfully I moved to Glasgow and here I have lived ever since. Amigans have been wonderful here. I had a membership and some important contact with Glasgow Amiga Users Group. Great people, great nights and fabulous teachings! I still wonder if those guys get together. Id love to bump into you one day.
I totally miss the unlimited creation on my Amigas. Nothing can compete with the pleasure we get from out Amigas. I am a very much MOD lover, I have gigabytes of them still! I also created many a video, audio remix, blah blah - you know the score!
From the day I turned off my Amiga, never have I used windows in my home on a desktop. I fell well in truly in love with Linux. Its uncannily Amiga, but more! from Debian, onto Ubuntu, and today now im all minty!
So like most, I joined here, as I realised, as much as I treasure my Amiga gear, its time to let someone else get some enjoyment out of it.
Here I am, with my bits! get yer wallets oot!
