Hi everyone,
Great to be here.
I am an Amiga 1200 owner. I never had one in 90s, but a lot of my friends had them and were into the Amiga demoscene (I was active on PC demoscene as Technomancer).
So I finally got A1200 later in 2000s. With Blizzard PPC and 3DLabs Permedia card that I have never used (how do you even use it, I have no software). Now using it Terrible Fire 1230, Indivision AGA and Netgear MA401.
My favorite game is two-player Battle Squadron with 2 mice playing with my kid.
Favorite music mod: Lost Patrol (game music)
My other retro machines are Atari 130XE, few Timex 2048 and Harlequin 48K, 2 dead NedoPC ZX Evo, MiSTER FPGA and 3 SGI Indys, PSOne, 2, 3, 4, PSP, Vita and few GBAs.

Welcome to Amibay!

I love the Christmas tree btw!

Oh, I played that on my PC.
Well, if MiSTER had serial port I could do it.
I haven't played around with it but mister minimig core does support a serial connection ... if you had one of those ESP8266 wifi modems on the real amiga and configured the serial connection on the minimig it might work - might be a fun project.

Cores supporting serial connection

  • Minimig. Tested on Roadshow TCP/IP, AmiTCP and Miami. AmiTCP provides more complete solution with ftpd daemon. There are many other 3rd party addons are based on AmiTCP, so it’s advised to use this package. Roadshow works ok locally, although i couldn’t make DNS work. Probably it needs more settings, but their 20min demo doesn’t allow to test and setup it fully. Miami was successfully tested. The Miami settings that worked: use PPP connection via serial.device, set baud rate to 115200, RTS/CTS to on, and enable 8N1. Set modem to nullmodem. Manually enter an IP suitable for your lan ending in 254, e.g. 192.168.1.254. Manually add a DNS server, e.g. 8.8.8.8 for Google DNS. Term v4.7 has been used to test console connection.

Hmm, there is no physical serial port on MiSTER.
From discussion here it looks like it just connects to host Linux on an emulater serial port.
While this is fine if you want to do PPP to get online. I guess I need to add another serial adapter, and try something like
socat /dev/ttyS0,raw,echo=0,crnl /dev/ttyS1,raw,echo=0,crnl
There is an option in the configuration for UART modem - Link USB Serial ... I am playing around with it now to see how it work ... might just work with a null modem and usb serial adapter.

After some playing around I was able to get a RS232 Serial Wifi Modem to connect to a BBS using Mister ... I had it plugged into a USB to serial adapter and used A-Term. I haven't had any luck getting StuntCarRacer to connect over null modem ... it does detect enough to abandon the link. I was trying to connect using a 500 with PiStorm and a 500 with TF536 each trying to the Mister so there might be another issue there that I am trying to diagnose. I will keep playing around with it and see if I can get anything to work.
