Hi, everyone! I'm a software engineer in the semiconductor industry. My first computer was a TI 99/4a back in the early '80s, then a Timex Sinclair 1000 a.k.a. Sinclair ZX81 (yes, it's a step backward), then a Heath/Zenith H-89a, then an Amiga 1000 and IBM XT both of which I had to sell, then various DOS/Windows computers, an Amiga 1000 again from a thrift store, a Mac Mini (the 2012 quad-core which is arguably better than any of the current models) which is my current workhorse, and recently I bought an A500 and an A1200 motherboard that's waiting for a new case from the Kickstarter project (ETA Q1 2016). --Derek

Welcome, I think you're in the right place to exchange hardware, software and knowledge/experience. :)

Which thrift store did you find the A1000? I've lived in San Diego for about 4 years now and haven't found anything good in a thrift store yet!

Welcome aboard! Nice to see people from familiar places joining our forum. Served in ASW and 32nd (USN) back in '87, and shopped hardware for my A1000 from shops of the area, but none we're actually downtown. Most we're quite remote.
Anyway, have fun. :)
