Hello,

My name is Oleks, I'm 33 and this is my first "Introduce Yourself" post in my life :picard.

I'm very much into late 80s middle 90s stuff and have a noble aim of building myself a 386 or 486 depending on what components I will be able to find, preferably with a good CRT and something nice for sound. Basically, the closer I get to the 800x600 zone the more my interest starts to fade. I would love the thing to be visually appealing interesting (it's 90s).

I want to end this project when I also get a matching early nineties desk/chair combo of relatively small size to put it in a dark corner of my home office and have MIDI music playing 40 hours per week. I also have modest interest in tracker music software and ancient x86 and C64 demo, art and music scene as a viewer, so that is a thing also.

I'm not sure what I want to choose for sound, but I absolutely ADORE how Yamaha MU-80 looks and sounds. I have little hopes of getting it for sane money in acceptable condition though.

I'm rather appalled by eBay prices, so I decided to try my luck here. Probably my timing with getting into the hobby is rather poor, but that's yet to be (dis)proven.

No, English is not my first language. Now, onwards swiftly to the research board..

Hello and welcome

Thank you!

It's been quite a journey for me since I started on Amibay. I now own an SC-55, an MT-32, a 25MHz SX (more than enough for me) but no Yamaha yet.
Hopefully, I'll be able to build a decent PC case from scratch sometime this year. I was overly optimistic about how I'll have a pretty 90s PC in my home office. Pretty much everything I see for sale is quite horrid design-wise.

My plan now is to design and build a 90s-themed aluminum case myself and powder coat it in beige.
