In all honesty I'm just writing this so that I can send a PM to Roy Bates the CRT Wizard :-)

My young daughter wants a "retro games day" for her birthday, but it will have to be by emulator - the CPC 6128 still works but its CTM-644 monitor doesn't - which means the Atari 2600 can't be used either.

I moved on to an Amiga 500 in the 90s but my favourite was always the CPC. Let's hope we can bring it back to life...

Nearly forgot - I've fond memories of playing Barrels on the RM Nimbus - are those still around?

how far from St Helens ??

I have a boxed cpc464 and colour monitor in the loft, It was working a few years back, if the drive isn't too far for you ( I won't post it too fragile ) you can borrow it for games day and until yours is fixed.

That’s extremely kind of you. If I’d got it all out of the garage earlier I would have taken you up on that offer and it would have saved the day! We’re about 2 hours away.

Unfortunately, the retro games day is today! I’ll be able to show her all the old hardware and explain what’s wrong with the monitor - then get on the emulators. There is an excellent emulator for the CPC that even simulates the disc drive noise/delay and the fuzziness of the display.

Thanks again. I’ll see if the CRT King can help me with fixing the monitor :-)
