I was planning to install an SSD in my A1200, and my plan had been to transfer the CF contents over to the SSD via a buffered IDE interface, booting from the CF card with the SSD attached as a second device. Format and then copy the contents over. When I plugged in the SDD, my CF card became invalid/does not show up at all. I checked in HDToolBox and it does not show as a partitioned drive anymore either. I thought I had backed up the contents on this drive before but am unable to find the files on my backup CF card so I am in a bit of trouble. Is there a way to recover a CF data disk from the Mac or PC? Or do I have some other options?

So it doesn't came back when you removed the SSD? Any sign of validation process? Also not all CF cards like Master/Slave mode.

No, when I removed the SSD, instead of booting from the CD card it went to the Kickstart screen. It is not showing up when I boot from a Workbench ADF either. I tried it with a different adapter and another Workbench install on another CF card and it booted fine.

See if you can access the CF card with linux.

I see you have already asked over at EAB as well…

I would follow Thomas’s advice with his set of tools he produces. The guy knows what he is talking about 👍🏻

Thanks, yeah he has been very helpful. I managed to back up the card but not recover the data yet.
