Hi,just bought one PS2toHDMI item and does not seem to work for me.
I got a PS2 model 70006 NTSC-Japan modded and using FreeMc boot.
I connect the mini-usb port to the PS2 and try to set the display of the PS2 RGB or YCB but no chance.
Any help ?
Thanks in advance

Alexandre

What is it you are trying to use with it? The easiest way to get hdmi out of a PS2 is to get a PS2 component cable and a component to hdmi converter. Or if your TV has component input then just use that.

I'm pretty sure that just hooking up to the USB port is not going to work.. you need to connect something to the PS2 video out connector.. Maybe the USB connector is there to supply power to your converter?

Hi

Hi

Thanks for the reply.
PS2 TO HDMI is a piece of hardware you plug into the AV port of any PS2 and you got a HDMI out with a jack for audio out but you can have audio thru HDMI too.It is powered thru a small mini-usb you plug in the PS2 as well.
There are a lot of them out there and they are made in China so there are different TradeMark but they are the same shell from outside.
The one I bought seems normal. Before I 'll open it up and look for something weird in it I'd like to understand it but it is difficult to get some support about it (China).
It is genuine but I wonder if all models of PS2 are supported because my PS2 came from Thailand and I know from a fact that China and Thailand are well equiped to sell real/fake stuffs (real one but with some things missing). It happened to me once in Hong-Kong.
What I know is my PS2 accepts Component out and Composite.
Does not have a SCART cable to check it out.
About the question:why not using acomponent cable directly ?
My answer is:I got a VGA/DVI monitor with no speakers here at home waiting to be used and a DVI to HDMI plug waiting also so.....
That is why....

Thanks for caring and bye

Hi,
You can use a component cable for PS2 , and you plug it into a video card with VGA output. I had the GBS8200 and it worked nicely on my Samsung computer monitor in VGA.
You can find the GBS8200 or GBS8220 on ebay , they are very cheap.

I also use component out on my PS2. My AV Amp has component passthrough and thr 27" Dell monitor I use has component in so I can then switch the PS2 into HD screenmode and it looks amazing. Component is directly supported by the PS2 and definitely the best way to go.

For HDMI I would instead use a component to HDMI converter if you don't have component in on your display... although even the cheaper Samsung TV I have has component connectors these days.
